| When should I call a moving company? |
The earlier, is better. Although the actual van assignment may not be made until a few days before moving day, it is wise to give your moving company from 4 (four) to 6 (six) weeks notice, if possible. The more lead-time you can give, the more likely we will be able to meet your preferred delivery schedule. All moving companies require alternate pickup and delivery dates. We will do our best, of course, to comply with the dates you prefer of the nearest possible alternatives. You will be notifying before the loading date of your goods and of the estimated date of arrival. |
| |
| Do I need an estimate? |
 |
Our estimator will make a pre-move survey of your household goods to be transport. A Pre-move survey is needed to determine the cost of a move and the amount of van space your goods will occupy. Our estimator will compute the approximate cost and give you a written estimate. There is no charge for the estimate. You can use our on-line inventory list to assist you with the items you want to be moved. Feel free to print the inventory list for your needs. For on-line inventory list, check our "On-line Estimate" section. |
| |
| What is a binding estimate? |
A binding estimate or binding cost of service specifies in advance the price cost of the move, based on the service request of deemed, necessary at the time of the estimate. If additional services are request or required at origin or destination (such as a "shuttle" to or from a location to which a full-size van cannot operate directly, or a "long carry" from the street to residence), the total cost will increase. Binding estimates are valid for the time specified, up to 60 days. If you add items to be move or require additional services, such as packing, between the time of the estimate and the time of your move, there will be additional charges. An addendum specifying these additional charges will be prepared for your signature. |
| |
| How long does it take to move? |
This depends on many factors, such as the time of year, weather conditions, size of your shipment, time required to load and unload, and the direction and distance your shipment is traveling. Because the furnishings of the average household will not fill a van, it is often necessary for two of more shipments to be loaded on the same van. Each shipment is carefully separated from the others. |
| |
| How do you determine what my move will cost? |
 |
| Unless you have been given a binding estimate, the exact cost of your move cannot be determined until after your shipment has been loaded on the van. If additional services are requests or become necessary after loading, additional charges will apply. Basic transportation charges depend on the actual cubic feet or Weight of your goods. The total cost will include these transportation costs, any charges for valuation coverage, and charges for any "accessorial" services (such as packing and unpacking) performed by us at your request. These charges are base on "tariff" rate schedules. |
| |
| How and when should I pay? |
Tariff provision requires that all charges will pay in full before your shipment is unloaded at destination. Payment for the move is the final issue and can be by the following methods: Upon booking a 10% deposit is required to be paid by Visa or Mastercard. Deposit is refundable if canceled in writing at least 72 hours prior to the scheduled pick up date. Before pickup 50% of the total is due to be paid in the form of Visa, Mastercard, money order or cash. Personal checks will be accepted at carrier's discretion if there is at least 14 days between the pick up and delivery. The remaining balance is due in the form of CASH or POST OFFICE MONEY ORDER. The Carrier reserves the right to collect up to 60% of balance due prior to the goods leaving the origin state. Subject to federal law, payment in FULL of all charges is required before delivery and PRIOR TO UNLOADING. All charges are based on full tariff rates. At time
of pick-up: Fifty percent of the total cost will be pay in cash, personal check or credit card. Upon delivery: The remaining balance will be paying in cash or postal money order only. PERSONAL CHECKS ARE NOT ACCEPTED UPON DELIVERY All payment forms apply to both binding and non-binding estimates. |

| Is my shipment protected against loss or damage while in transit? |
Yes, but how much protection you have and its cost to you depend upon your request. The valuation options you select determine the basis upon which any claim will adjust and establishes our maximum liability. Our liability for loss or damage is base upon our tariffs, as well as federal laws and regulations, and has certain limitations and exclusions. Valuation is not insurance; it is simply a tariff-based level of motor carrier liability. If you desire insurance, you should consult your insurance company representative about available insurance coverage, because we do not offer insurance, but it is a wise consumer you at least considers our recommendation to use a shipping insurance. For your convenience, we recommend the International Shipping Insurance Company, "Moving Insurance" (We are not compensated in any way for this recommendation). The choice is yours, of course
, and others may be found on the web. Our maximum liability for loss or damage to any article in the shipment is 60 cents multiplied by the weight of the article. This is the basic liability level and is provide at no charge. |
| |
| What is tariff? |
| This is the list of rules, regulations. Available services and resulting charges used by all motor carriers that provide interstate transportation of household goods. The tariffs published by each household goods motor carrier, include their various services. The tariffs are available for your inspection upon request. |
| |
| Is a moving company "licensed"? |
| It would be more accurate to say that a moving company is "registered". For example, we have issued a certificate of authority by the federal government to move household goods among any of the 50 states. |
